Character Name: Idun Pantheon: Norse Parentage: Svald (dwarf) Patronage: Youth, Fertility, & Death Residence: Idun lives in a hall at the end of the Brunnaker orchard in Asgard. Two stories and 40 rooms, it is modest in size compared to most of the other gods and goddesses, but she enjoys it along with her husband Bragi and their numerous Idun is patient and understanding. She is very empathic and a good listener; one would have to be when your husband is an epic speaker. She is also very supportive of her husband and friends, and is a shoulder to lean on in times of trouble. She's slow to anger and tries to mind her own unless she feels something needs to be said or referred to, or at times people need to be reminded of certain things to keep them in line, though in some cases this would be done in some sort of code rather than right out. Due to being the wife of a storyteller and the friend of trickery, she tends to have a knack for picking out a lie. She finds herself slow to trust, due to the abduction incident with Loki, though she still feels he's a friend. Though she lacks a commanding presence, she has no problems catching the attentions of others--especially when under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. Originating from the Vanir, she's very sensual and physically affectionate, though not outright sexual (which tends to read odd as a goddess of fertility). As the goddess of youth, she exhibits a layer of innocence, though isn't as naive as she is often percieved to be. As a tender of the apple orchard, she has a strong sense of duty and being bound to return and maintain it's well-being she is more than happy to play the happy hostess for anyone willing to visit her home. She had never felt she was truly an Aesir until they had wed. All of her blood ties laid with the Vanir. She found living with him to be a challenge. Used to her solitude, the extra clutter around the home was something she had to adjust to. His bad habit of leaving things lying around made her constantly have to pluck things off the floor like apples off the ground and place them where they belonged. His attentions towards other women tended to irritate her, but she could not be angry with him, not for long, even when she tried. Eventually, he would go off to travel and leave her alone for long periods of time. At one point, she'd even been lured away by Loki who had led her to be taken by a giant Thiassi. In her absense the Aesir grew old and frail and pressured Loki to retrieve her. Borrowing Freya's feathered cloak he turned himself into falcon and went to rescue Idun. He ended up turning her into a nut in order to carry her back to Asgard, where he turned her back to her original form. She quickly rushed to give her apples to the gods soon after to restore them. That was the highlight of adventure in Idun's life. Since then it's been rather quiet, or as quiet as it could be when you have Bragi as your husband. At times she did venture out into the world to see how things were, so she wouldn't be...so behind the times as her husband would so eloquently put it. She's learned things about technology and even history, art, and naturally music, literature, and these plays in boxes called "movies". For the most part, Midgard is a continuously intriguing place to visit, but she makes sure not to leave the garden unattended for too long.
